Feeling concerned about the bathroom renovation cost is normal. Who wouldn’t?
Such expenses are often considerable but may also be controlled. How? It depends on what your goals are! It depends on how all this bathroom remodeling idea came up and what you are planning to do. It also depends on your budget.
Let me be more accurate.
• Let’s say there’s been a calamity. In this case, finding a bathroom remodeling contractor is a one-way path. This is something you must do; there’s no other option.
• Whether you decided to find a bathroom remodeler out of necessity or just to refresh the room, you still have some goals, a dream of how you want the bath to be.
• How much you spend depends on whether this is a master bathroom, the guest bath, or a bath that hardly ever anyone uses.
• All such things have to do with your budget too. It might be limited or not. You may want to spend; you may not want to spend – whether you have the money or not and based on all the above.
Whether it is water damage that led you to the computer in search of a bathroom renovation company or it was your decision to remodel, the cost can be controlled since it is shaped by different factors. Let’s take a look.
Bathroom remodel vs renovation
A recent calamity often calls for a complete bathroom remodel; for a project that would involve tearing everything, building everything from scratch. Same thing with a small bathroom or an old, very old bathroom that all it makes is your life difficult. You may need to relocate fixtures, perhaps knock down a wall to enlarge it. In such cases, the cost goes up as opposed to a simple renovation that would include the replacement of plumbing and fixtures but not relocations (a new layout) or expansion.
Bathroom size
Is this a large or small bathroom remodel? The size makes a difference. There’s a tiny paradox here. You see, remodeling a small bathroom is much harder than remodeling a large bathroom. In a small space, the designer must find ways to fit all the fixtures necessary and still leave traffic room without making the room claustrophobic. All the same, a small bathroom is a small bathroom. No matter how many changes you do, there’s so much you can fit. And then, the counter will be small, the storage space will be limited, the floor will occupy small space – you get the picture. And so overall, small bathrooms cost less to remodel.
Bathroom materials
You will most likely need a new bathroom flooring, counter, fixtures, paint, window, and accessories – like faucets, towel holders, etc. But not all such things cost the same. The bathroom renovation contractor will tell you the final cost when you agree on what materials you want. On the bright side, contractors and designers deal with such stuff every day. And so, they have their way to suggest materials that will match both your budget and taste. But it’s good to know that the materials influence the cost of the bath remodel too.
Bathroom features – miscellaneous
Unless you simply want the bathroom fixtures and counter replaced, new lighting installed, and the walls painted, there’s a whole list of things that may be included in a remodel. For example, you may want in-floor heating, floating cabinetry, a vanity apart from the counter with the sink, both a shower and a tub, electrical work – just to name a few.
The more changes you want to make, the more you pay. But then again, you can get the bathroom remodeled entirely and still pay an average cost, if you don’t get the most expensive materials and fixtures.
